The Future of Meetings
Connecting People and Ideas
Turn off your bio-implant computer, hop in your moonbeam car,
and let's meet in Jupiter!
The changes may not be as radical as the above –
but hey - let’s have fun!
Seriously, what would meetings of the future look like? Why would people meet?
What would attract planners to destinations? What would hotel facilities and
services be like? Will there still be contracts as we know it? How will
attendees register? How would attendees be transported to meetings? What would
the role of meeting planners be? What would attendees be doing? What will they
eat? How will food be served? What would they be talking about? What type of
speakers will they need?
Will meeting planners be rendered irrelevant by technology? We believe not. But
their roles will change. Certification and training requirements will change.
Meeting venue requirements will change. All the forms we are now using -
Requests for Proposals, Meeting & Site Profiles, Housing, Registration,
Contracts and others - will be rendered obsolete.
Help us visualize the future. It has crucial training, certification and
business implications. Why train future meeting planners for meetings of the
past? We have to prepare planners for meetings beyond the next five years.
